Girl Apocrypha blends grit and gloss on new single

Girl Apocrypha has returned with her new single 'MADONNA', a bold follow-up to debut release 'Dealer' that further introduces the Brighton artist’s genre-blurring sound.

Across the track, grunge textures collide with glossy synth-pop production, while sharp vocal shifts move from spoken-word verses into a huge melodic chorus. It’s a release that feels playful and theatrical, but still carries the darker edge running through her alt-rock influences.

Recorded with producer Jag Jago, 'MADONNA' balances distorted guitars and lo-fi electronics with an instinct for hooks, building from minimal, synth-led verses into an explosive payoff. The result sits somewhere between underground grit and pop maximalism.

Inspired by artists spanning Interpol, Placebo and Nine Inch Nails through to Lady Gaga, Grimes and The Dare, Girl Apocrypha continues to carve out a space that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly off-centre.

The single also arrives after early momentum surrounding her debut release, with support from outlets including Loud Women, Notion and The Line of Best Fit, alongside a live debut that marked her out as an emerging name on the UK alternative scene.

'MADONNA' is out now.
