Adorn - 'Let Love Remain'

7/10

Debut albums often feel like introductions, but 'Let Love Remain' feels more like a statement; confident, fully realised, and driven by a clear sense of purpose. Here, Dallas outfit Adorn arrive with conviction, delivering a record that balances weight and atmosphere with a message that cuts straight through the noise.

From the outset, there’s a sense of scale. The guitars expand, layering texture over impact to create something immersive rather than simply heavy. There’s a push toward something more dimensional here, where moments of intensity are offset by space and restraint. It gives the album a dynamic range that keeps it constantly engaging.

Vocally, Austin Gordon anchors everything with a performance that feels both urgent and controlled. There’s a raw edge in the delivery, but it’s tempered by clarity, and that balance allows the emotional core of the record to come through without being lost in the instrumentation.

Tracks like ‘Pass the Pulse’ and 'The Brave and Bled Defiant' capture the band at their most direct. There’s a sense of urgency here that mirrors the themes running through the album. It's grounded in the current moment, addressing the fractures that define it while still searching for something unifying beneath the surface.

What gives 'Let Love Remain' its identity, though, is the band’s approach to imperfection. There’s a willingness to let moments breathe, and to allow spontaneity to shape the final result. Subtle shifts in rhythm, unexpected accents, small deviations from structure; these details give the record a human quality that stands out in an era of over-polished production.

For a first full-length, 'Let Love Remain' is remarkably assured. It feels like a band already in motion, and if this is the starting point, there’s a strong sense that Adorn are only just getting going.
