Alabama Shakes unveil new single 'American Dream'

US rock trio Alabama Shakes have made their long-awaited return with new single 'American Dream', signalling the start of a new era and teasing their upcoming third studio album, set to be their first full-length release for Island Records.

Led by a brooding riff and a commanding vocal from Brittany Howard, the track reflects on modern life with stark honesty. Slow-burning drums and vintage-inspired harmonies build into a cathartic chorus, capturing a sense of frustration and disillusionment.

Howard describes the song as a reflection of the current climate, addressing social strain and the challenges faced by everyday people, while holding onto a sense of hope for change.

'American Dream' follows their recent comeback track 'Another Life', marking their first new material in over a decade and building momentum toward their next album.
