Sheffield-based singer-songwriter Alastair Gordon returns with the emotionally charged new single 'Promenade', a moving blend of folk-rock grit and poetic lyricism. Recorded at the newly renovated Floating Door studio, a space Gordon helped build himself, the single marks a powerful chapter in his evolving journey as an artist.
Inspired by a fleeting moment with his grandmother shortly before her passing, 'Promenade' weaves themes of memory, regret, and quiet reconciliation. The track combines rich acoustic textures and vivid storytelling, echoing the sound of The Felice Brothers and the lyrical weight of Leonard Cohen or Joni Mitchell.
The single features an ensemble of local talent from the Sheffield music scene, including Giles Robinson (double bass), Ric Booth (violin), Dave Westley (keys), Sarah Henegan (drums) and backing vocals by Bethan Robinson and El Henegan. Engineered and mixed by Joe Todd, the result is intimate and cinematic in equal measure.
