London and Italy-based singer-songwriter Alessia Piermarini unveils ‘Zagani Lullaby’, a deeply moving new release that explores the devastating human impact of war through a striking blend of jazz, spoken word, hip-hop and neo-soul influences.
Serving as the second chapter in a wider project examining conflict and its consequences, the single moves beyond politics to focus on the experiences of ordinary people caught in unimaginable circumstances. Built around sparse yet emotionally charged arrangements, ‘Zagani Lullaby’ gradually unfolds into moments of haunting intensity, balancing vulnerability with quiet strength.
Her distinctive artistic voice sits at the centre of the track, supported by rich contributions from pianist Emilio Merone, violinist Aliyah Serena and harmony vocalist Gianluca De Martini. Together, they create an immersive soundscape that feels intimate, cinematic and emotionally resonant.
The release follows ‘10 Miles’, a BBC Introducing-supported spoken-word piece inspired by images of civilians travelling towards Gaza. Both songs form part of a broader body of work that examines compassion, displacement, and shared humanity through innovative musical storytelling.
