Phoenix-based composer and visual artist Allan Jamisen has released his latest single 'This Is Not An Act', an atmospheric piece that continues his exploration of cinematic, genre-blurring sound.
The track combines spoken-word delivery with rich jazz instrumentation and electronic production, creating a late-night soundscape filled with saxophone, flute, layered vocals, and hypnotic rhythms. The result is a moody and immersive listening experience that blends elements of trip-hop, jazz, and ambient electronic music.
Lyrically, the song reflects on themes of authenticity, self-reflection, and mortality. Jamisen describes the narrative as an inner conversation between a person and their “higher self,” examining personal growth, past mistakes, and the search for deeper meaning. The track also touches on spiritual connection and the acceptance of life’s impermanence.
The musical foundation originated with Copenhagen-based producer Joachim Michaelis, whose collaboration with Jamisen culminates in their first official release together. Additional production work took place in Phoenix and Los Angeles, where veteran producer John X Volaitis helped refine the arrangement and final mix.
