ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No. 129 Starling

After receiving huge amounts of acclaim for last year's minimalist 'The Heart' EP, London-based alt-pop newcomer Starling has returned with a brand new single set to appear on a new forthcoming EP later this year.

Described as an "art-obsessed left-field pop practitioner", Starling has developed a sound that sits somewhere between the gloss of the commercial mainstream and dark, brooding sense of self-awareness. These two traits have not only gathered the attention of the likes of Radio1, Noisey and Clash Music, but also given the singer-songwriter the confidence to produce truly original and forward-thinking music.

Her latest single 'No Rest For The Wicked' sees her juggle these influences once again as she rides over a sombre beats and swooning guitar licks, which has gained comparisons to the likes of Sia and Bat For Lashes in the process.

Her forthcoming EP 'The Body' is due out later this Spring, and you can check out the video for 'No Rest For The Wicked' in the player below.
