ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No. 158 Sugarmen

Over the last couple of years, we have seen a huge rise in the popularity of the UK's indie scene. Bands like The Magic Gang, Sundara Karma, The Amazons and Spring King have all broken through to the mainstream interest, and now Liverpool's Sugarmen look set to do the same.

Having already been heralded by Radio 1's new music master Huw Stephens, the Merseyside outfit have now officially released their debut single 'Push Button Age', a track that combines the post-punk sound of the late 80s with a more contemporary twist.

The band are set to release their debut album 'Local Freaks' on the 6th October, and having already wowed crowds at Reading & Leeds Festivals last month, they plan to see out the rest of the year with a number of live shows, including a headline spot at London's Sebright Arms next month.
