ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.278 - Julia Bardo

With her debut single 'Desire' receiving huge acclaim from The Line of Best Fit and BBC Radio, which led her to enchant audiences at UK festivals like Neighbourhood, Liverpool Sound City and The Great Escape last year, Italian-born but Manchester-based singer and songwriter Julia Bardo has now returned with the release of her new EP 'Phase'.

Previewed by the single 'I Wanna Feel Love', the frontwoman channels the blissful yet progressive attitudes of fellow songstresses Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy to deliver a wonderfully smooth and euphoric release, that adds just a touch of DIY-aesthetic to its pounding alt-pop production.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her latest offering, she said, “I was in a relationship that didn’t work for me. I felt like I lost my inspiration—There was no colour in my life. I started to think, 'Is this how I want my life to be? Is my life over at 24? Is this really the way I want to be loved?' So I started to write about the way I see love. I’ve always wanted to feel special for someone, I’ve always wanted a fiery and intense, passionate love. And eventually I got it."

Julia Bardo's latest EP 'Phase' is available to stream and download now via Wichita Recordings. Check out the new video for 'I Wanna Feel Love' in the player and see her upcoming tour dates below.
