Rising indie-pop artist Marley Guevara, aka Maz, has officially announced her debut EP 'NPC', set for release on the 4th April via Winspear (Wishy, Slow Pulp, Lutalo). Alongside the announcement, she shares the irresistibly smooth and hypnotic new single 'Kiss Kiss Boom', a track that seamlessly blends laid-back trip-hop grooves with a playful falsetto hook.
Alternating between nonchalant, talk-sung verses and an airy, melodic chorus, 'Kiss Kiss Boom' fuses Gorillaz’s downtempo cool with Stereolab’s hypnotic, layered textures, wrapped up in bubbling synths and a shuffling beat that keeps the track in constant motion.
“I wrote this song while going through the intense and conflicting emotions of getting back with an ex,” Guevara shares. “I love the contrast of the lyrics describing an emotional explosion, like a bomb going off, while the beat itself is so mellow.”
Hailing from the small town of Logan, Utah, Maz has been steadily building anticipation with a string of compelling singles, including the previously released 'Conundrums', which will also appear on the six-track EP.
