London via Leeds singer-songwriter and guitarist Nii continues his rise with the release of 'Bubblegum', a track that encapsulates his signature blend of introverted pop hooks, sharp lyricism, and guitar-led Americana. Following the success of 'Penelope', which quickly racked up over 100K views on Instagram, 'Bubblegum' solidifies Nii’s reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging voices.
Reflecting on the song, Nii shares, “Bubblegum is a song written about finding love in a city of transient souls. It was written while looking back on the end of a relationship, where we met after both moving to London at the same time, and coincidentally living around the corner from each other. But our roads ultimately diverged and we wanted to move out of London again. I found perspective while writing this song, exploring anticipation and unfulfilled expectation. It’s about appreciating and poking fun at a window where two people’s timelines converge. And in a city that either begs you to stay or flee, things can quickly dissipate as quickly as they came.”
After releasing his debut EP 'Nothing Waiting', which was championed by BBC Introducing in North Yorkshire, Nii’s momentum has only grown. Reaching the finals of Fender’s Undiscovered Artist of the Year and winning a performance on the Amex Unsigned stage at All Points East, he’s now stepping into a new chapter. 'Bubblegum' marks the latest single from his project under Mahogany Songs, the new label launched by the influential Mahogany music platform.
