Ghent-based newcomers Maria Iskariot are making a bold statement with their latest single 'Leugenaar', a raw and unrelenting blast of Dutch-language punk that refuses to be ignored.
Translating to “Liar”, the track seethes with biting fury, as frontwoman Helena Cazaerck delivers an impassioned vocal performance, spitting the lyrics: “He feeds the people sugared lies / Knows too well how to disguise” with unfiltered rage. The song captures the essence of rebellion, channeling a scathing critique into a sonic firestorm of distorted guitars and pounding rhythms.
A live performance video of 'Leugenaar' previously caught fire online, leading to Tropical Fuck Storm personally inviting Maria Iskariot to support them on their UK and Scandinavian tour late last year. Now, with their debut album on the horizon, the band unleashes the official studio version of the track and an intense accompanying video, solidifying their reputation as one of the most exciting new punk acts to emerge from Belgium.
Speaking about the track, the band offers a characteristically uncompromising statement, “Leugenaar is an absolution, a pelvis under the chin of a drooling monster waiting to be freed from a rotten tooth. Anyone expecting further explanation can go to hell.”
