ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.563 - Paige Kennedy

London-based artist and producer Paige Kennedy (they/them) has unveiled ‘Oh Honey!’, the final single ahead of their upcoming EP 'Style Over Substance', out on the 6th February. Bursting with retro flair and razor-sharp wit, the track dives into heartbreak with a theatrical twist, channelling the spirit of 80s icons like Janet Jackson and Annie Lennox.

Driven by glittering guitar hooks, lush harmonies, and an unapologetically cheeky key change, ‘Oh Honey!’ delivers emotional honesty with a dose of camp. “When I went through my own cataclysmic heartbreak, I seized the opportunity to write one myself. As someone with a penchant for theatrics, I had a lot of fun writing 80s guitar lines, stacked backing vocals and even slipping in a cheeky key change. The lyrics are raw, focusing on loss and confusion, while the instrumental is fabulously silly,” Paige explains.

The single arrives with a video equally steeped in contrast, where mourning attire meets surreal settings, from 50s-style bathrooms to tiki bars, highlighting the clash between internal pain and external gloss.

It follows the buzzworthy singles ‘Male Friend’ and ‘Medical Emergency’, further establishing Paige’s flair for fusing absurdity with sincerity. Their unique voice and irreverent visuals have sparked growing acclaim online and across UK radio, including BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, and Radio X.
