One of Scotland’s most talked-about emerging folk acts, Curiosity Shop, have taken a major step forward with the announcement of their signing to Fontana Records and the release of their first official single 'Crows'.
The Edinburgh-based five-piece have already built a reputation through sold-out headline performances and a growing live following, despite having released no music until now. Their debut offering introduces listeners to a band rooted in traditional songwriting while embracing influences that stretch across folk, jazz and acoustic music.
Originally written by founding members Ruairidh Wallace and Sonny Scott during their teenage years in Campbeltown, 'Crows' has become a cornerstone of the band’s live performances. The track’s striking vocal introduction and rich acoustic arrangement have made it a fan favourite, regularly opening both their shows and pre-show rituals.
Made up of musicians from different parts of Scotland, Curiosity Shop combine acoustic guitar, double bass, accordion and layered harmonies to create a sound that feels both timeless and refreshingly modern.
Following support slots with rising UK favourites Divorce and a string of sold-out Scottish dates, the band are now preparing for a busy summer festival season that includes appearances across the UK and Europe. With 'Crows', Curiosity Shop make an impressive introduction and signal the arrival of an exciting new voice in contemporary folk music.
