Liverpool singer-songwriter Grace Elizabeth Harvey has announced her forthcoming EP 'Songs Of Devotion', arriving on the 16th October, alongside the release of its first single, 'The Dream Of Common Language'.
Inspired by a chance discovery of Adrienne Rich's celebrated poetry collection, the new track pairs delicately fingerpicked guitar with expansive instrumentation, exploring the fragile relationship between language, understanding and human connection. Recorded live with producer Gus White, bassist Sam Crooks and drummer Lloyd Haines, the performance embraces an organic, intimate atmosphere, with analogue production and ambient sounds adding to its understated beauty.
Harvey explains that the song reflects on the limitations of words, examining how love, expectation and communication can become intertwined with misunderstanding. The wider EP continues that exploration, focusing on the tension created when language fails to express inner experience.
Following the acclaim of her debut EP 'Other Faith', extensive UK touring, recognition in the Young Songwriter Competition, support from BBC Introducing, and a recent PPL Momentum Accelerator Fund award, Grace Elizabeth Harvey continues to establish herself as one of the UK's most thoughtful emerging folk voices.
