Baldy Crawlers make a striking statement with their new single 'Hatred?', the first release from their forthcoming EP 'Fais Toi Plaisir'. Rather than focusing on the spectacle of war, the contemporary folk track turns its attention to the shared humanity of those forced onto opposite sides of conflict.
Built around delicate acoustic guitar, mournful cello and beautifully restrained three-part harmonies, the song delivers its message with quiet conviction instead of outrage. Inspired by an image that revealed anguish on the faces of both captors and captive, 'Hatred?' explores the emotional cost of being taught to view another person as the enemy, creating a poignant reflection that feels relevant far beyond any single battlefield.
The project marks another step in the evolution of Baldy Crawlers, the collective founded by Berklee-trained luthier and songwriter Martin Maudal. What began as a way to showcase his handcrafted instruments has developed into an ambitious musical collaboration, blending folk, Americana, Latin influences and jazz into a sound that is both timeless and deeply compassionate.
