Paris-based artist Be My Wife, the musical identity of creative director Federico Nessi, launches an exciting new era with ‘Miami Song’, a dazzling synth-pop cut where dancefloor escapism masks something altogether more vulnerable.
Following debut album 'The Restless Pursuit To Deliver A Feeling', the single sees the artist loosening the reins on his creative process. Sleek electronics, nocturnal energy and shades of Marc Almond and Dave Gahan give the track its seductive exterior, while its origins reveal a far heavier emotional story.
Nessi wrote ‘Miami Song’ during a difficult spell spent caring for his ill father in Miami. Against the city’s heat, nightlife and relentless colour, he found himself confronting mortality, isolation and the changing responsibilities that accompany adulthood. That contrast gives the song a compelling heart that feels bright enough to dance to, yet carrying considerable darkness beneath the surface.
Co-produced in Paris with Simon Says of electronic duo Il Est Villain, ‘Miami Song’ pushes Be My Wife beyond the meticulously constructed approach of the debut and towards something freer, stranger and more instinctive.
