Bloc Party announce new album 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance'

British indie icons Bloc Party return with details of their seventh studio album 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance', arriving on the 11th September via newly launched label cOnTAGIOUS LTD. Alongside the announcement, the band have shared the record’s first single, 'Coming On Strong'.

Produced by legendary studio figure Trevor Horn, the album is described as the most emotionally exposed work frontman Kele Okereke has ever written. Structured as a chronological portrait of a relationship, the record traces the rise and collapse of an intense romance with striking detail, moving from attraction and intimacy through to heartbreak and eventual emotional recovery.

Lead single 'Coming On Strong' captures the exhilarating early stages of infatuation, pairing a driving beat with dark-edged guitars and an undercurrent of unease beneath its euphoric momentum. While the song embraces excitement and emotional release, there’s already a sense that things may not hold together forever, a tension that reportedly shapes the wider arc of the album.

For a band now more than two decades into their career, 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance' appears to represent a bold creative shift for Bloc Party: more intimate, more direct and emotionally unfiltered than ever before.
