Kelowna experimental artist Body dives further into the wonderfully strange with his immersive new single ‘Building A Building’.
The project of former Hot Hot Heat member Paul Hawley, Body has been steadily developing a distinctive universe through monthly releases, combining indie songwriting with warped electronics and cinematic experimentation. And ‘Building A Building’ might be one of the most intriguing examples yet.
Detuned synths drift alongside unusual percussion, intimate vocals and hazy ambient textures, creating something simultaneously dreamlike and slightly disorientating. Centred around ideas of dissolution, the song captures the sensation of a fleeting dream that somehow continues to linger long after waking.
Produced by Body and mixed by James Younger, ‘Building A Building’ continues Paul Hawley's fascination with turning everyday experiences into something altogether stranger.
