Will Oldham, the enigmatic force behind Bonnie “Prince” Billy, has unveiled his new single 'Hey Little', lifted from his latest studio album We Are Together Again, set for release on on the 6th March, and accompanied by a dreamy, double-exposed video co-directed by Brent Stewart and his daughter Maya Stewart.
Originally written for another voice, 'Hey Little' finds new resonance in his role as a father. The song’s delicate rearrangement features Catherine Irwin’s soulful harmonies and a touch of surrealism in its visual counterpart, complete with goats and nods to The Swimmer.
The album brings together a tight-knit Louisville cast including Jacob Duncan, Thomas Deakin, Ryder McNair, and Ned Oldham, spotlighting the city’s rich musical ecosystem. 'Hey Little' also draws string arrangement inspiration from Madonna’s 'Dear Jessie', while Deakin’s clarinet solo adds warmth and wistful charm.
Following 'The Purple Bird', this album continues Oldham’s deepening exploration of place, fear, and kinship; rooted, once again, close to the banks of the Ohio River.
