Calico City unveil new single 'Gotta Go'

Calico City have spent the past few years steadily carving out a space of their own in Perth’s alternative scene, and on ‘Gotta Go’ they sound ready to push that momentum much further. Bright, punchy and built around an irresistible contrast between laidback groove and explosive release, the single captures the six-piece at their most immediate.

Serving as the final preview of their upcoming debut EP 'Second In Line', ‘Gotta Go’ brings together the two sides of the band’s identity with real confidence. Reggae-informed verses sway with a loose, summery feel, while the choruses snap into a much harder alt-rock attack, driven by raucous guitars and sharp, energetic drums.

The vocal interplay between Brianne Reyes and Sienna Law is one of the song’s strongest features. Their voices complement one another naturally, with rich harmonies giving the track an added lift while keeping the hooks front and centre. There's an easy chemistry in the way they trade and layer lines, making the song feel communal rather than overly polished.

The guitars also play a crucial role. There's enough grit in the riffs to give the single weight, but they never overwhelm the groove. Instead, the band keeps the track moving with a sense of spontaneity, letting the instrumental sections feel fiery without losing the breezier character that has become part of Calico City’s appeal.

As a final teaser for 'Second In Line', the single does its job perfectly. It's catchy without feeling lightweight, energetic without becoming chaotic and polished without losing personality. With this new gem, Calico City sound like a band stepping confidently into their next chapter. And if the single is any indication, their debut EP is set to arrive with plenty of colour, movement and bite.
