Nashville singer-songwriter Chip Greene returns with his expansive new single ‘Strike a Match’.
Co-written with Katie Cole of The Smashing Pumpkins shortly before the pandemic, the song was almost forgotten until he rediscovered its original demo years later. That unexpected recovery eventually led the artist to rebuild the track as a considerably larger studio production.
Co-produced with Benjamin A. Harper, ‘Strike a Match’ combines his piano-driven rock foundations with sweeping hooks and an increasingly dramatic arrangement. Its closing section provides the biggest shift, introducing a powerful horn section that pushes the track towards a suitably cinematic finale. The recording was mixed by Teddy Morgan and mastered by John Baldwin.
The single also carries particular personal significance for Chip Greene. It features a performance from his late friend and drummer Chris Leidhecker, turning the finished recording into a tribute as well as the beginning of his latest musical chapter.
