Chicago indie outfit Das Sporten kick off 2026 with 'Just A Dog', a laid-back, guitar-driven single that channels 90s alt-rock nostalgia into something heartfelt and refreshingly simple. The track serves as both a standalone single and a teaser for the band’s upcoming full-length album, due later this year.
Led by core collaborators Andy and Aaron, alongside long-time bassist Mikaela, 'Just A Dog' departs slightly from the band’s usual palette, leaning into crisp, natural guitar tones, a fun-loving solo, and minimal effects. Recorded in a Chicago studio, the song trades polish for authenticity, capturing the feel of a live jam without losing its punch.
Lyrically, the track muses on the choice of adopting a dog with an endearing blend of humour and heart. It’s a tune that doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet still lands with sincerity.
