Dublin punk-funk outfit Def Nettle release their latest single 'Mohawk', marking another bold step in their post-hiatus resurgence.
Following their 2023 debut album 'DN001' and a string of 2025 singles, the band have continued to build momentum, earning support from BBC Radio 6 Music, RTÉ 2FM and key alternative press.
'Mohawk' leans fully into their jagged groove-driven sound, pairing wiry, late-70s guitar lines with glossy new wave undertones. The track moves between rhythmic spoken passages, rap exchanges and hook-heavy refrains, as frontman Glen Brady and rapper Lisa Doyle-Taaffe spar with playful bite. Lyrically, the song skewers the commodification of punk aesthetics, using the iconic mohawk as a symbol of rebellion turned retail product, while knowingly poking fun at their own flirtation with nostalgia.
