Kingston-based alternative rock outfit Dexter Flew continue their upward trajectory with the release of ‘Crowned’, a sharp-edged and fiercely observant new single taken from their acclaimed album 'WHO, WHERE, WHY?'
Blending jangling guitars, driving rhythms and incisive lyricism, ‘Crowned’ examines the increasingly blurred lines between power, influence and truth in modern society. Drawing inspiration from the storytelling traditions of classic singer-songwriters while channelling the energy of contemporary indie rock, the track tackles political spectacle, misinformation and public distrust with both intelligence and urgency.
But rather than offering simple answers, Dexter Flew invite us to confront the contradictions of the modern age. Beneath the song’s infectious hooks and melodic immediacy lies a thoughtful exploration of ego, authority and the uncertainty that has defined recent years.
Formed in 2022, the five-piece have built a reputation for refusing to be confined by genre, weaving together elements of new wave, alternative rock, folk and darker atmospheric textures. Their songwriting is shaped as much by everyday life as it is by their wide-ranging musical influences, resulting in songs that feel grounded, reflective and emotionally resonant.
