Eythor Arnalds unveils meditative new single 'Opening'

Icelandic composer Eythor Arnalds unveils 'Opening', a serene and immersive piece taken from his upcoming album 'Music for Walking', due on the 29th May via Alda Music.

Built around gentle piano motifs and slowly expanding string arrangements, the track unfolds with a sense of quiet progression, mirroring the physical act of moving through space. Performed alongside members of the Reykjavík Symphony Orchestra and recorded at Harpa Concert Hall, the composition carries a delicate balance of intimacy and scale.

Inspired by walks across Iceland’s shifting landscapes, 'Opening' reflects a transition from introspection to openness, shaped by rhythm, repetition and subtle emotional change. Produced and mixed by Bergur Þórisson and conducted by Viktor Orri Árnason, the track is rooted firmly in Iceland’s rich contemporary classical tradition.

Accompanied by a striking visual piece filmed across volcanic and coastal terrain, 'Opening' sets the tone for a project designed as an invitation to slow down and move with intention.
