Scottish artist Finlay Birch has released his latest single 'Weight Will Unwind', the title-track from his upcoming debut album, due later this year.
Written on the Isle of Mull, the song reflects on the gradual release of emotional burden, focusing on acceptance rather than resolution. Built around a calm, spacious arrangement, the track leans into subtle progression and atmosphere instead of dramatic shifts.
The recording was captured live at An Tobar and Mull Theatre, with production handled by Dylan Cooper. Additional layers, including synth textures and vocal harmonies, were added to enhance the track’s depth while maintaining its intimate feel.
Originally from Inverclyde, Birch blends elements of alternative folk, indie, and soft rock, drawing on a reflective songwriting style shaped by his surroundings. Having first released lo-fi material during lockdown, this new single marks a step toward a more fully realised and collaborative sound.
