Toronto artist and producer Alexander Zen steps into a new chapter with the launch of Forever Factory, unveiling its debut single 'Absence'.
Previously known for his work with Favours and Invasions, Zen now operates solo, writing and recording from his own space in Toronto. 'Absence' introduces his forthcoming EP 'Violence Is Everywhere But Not Here', due this March, and signals a refined shift toward shadowy synth textures and guitar-driven introspection.
The track examines devotion and heartbreak through a cool, controlled lens, pairing pulsing electronic elements with understated melodies. Mixed by Josh Korody and mastered by Asher Gould-Murtagh, the single maintains a stripped-back, atmospheric quality that places feeling at the forefront.
Recorded at Amos Waits Recording Studio in Toronto, 'Absence' showcases his hands-on approach, with the artist handling composition, performance, and production duties himself. Drawing influence from the moodier side of post-punk and modern synth-led indie, Forever Factory marks a focused and compelling new direction for him as he prepares plenty more new material in the months ahead.
