Frankie Alpha continues to build momentum with the release of ‘Coma Toes (Yay)’, a deeply personal house track taken from his debut EP ‘Fragrances’, out 19th November.
The track marks the penultimate single to surface ahead of the EP, crystallising the bittersweet magic of late summer with striking clarity. Built around live piano melodies originally sketched on his Roland FP-90, ‘Coma Toes (Yay)’ blends organic warmth with Alpha's signature production touch. "This one felt nostalgic from the outset," Alpha says, "but it's the live piano and synth parts later recorded that give this track its feel."
Swing-heavy rhythms and ghostly harmonies drive an infectious groove, before an unexpected UK Bass-influenced drop shifts the track into striking new territory. It's a bold structural pivot that captures the essence of Alpha's approach—each layer in service of a narrative about fleeting joy and transition.
Following a year of eclectic releases, such as ‘Pisco Biscuit’ and ‘Bludgeoning on the Dancefloor’ Alpha shows remarkable range. With ‘Fragrances’ mapping emotional landscapes across different seasons, ‘Coma Toes (Yay)’ feels like a pivotal moment, and its autumn-tinged introspection is the perfect precursor to the full collection.
