Frankie Bird - 'Grassroots'

7/10

After originally making a name for herself around her hometown of Reading last year, turning out a wealth of warm and inviting singles such as 'Younger Dreams', 'Never Did Me Any Good' and 'Campfire', emerging singer-songwriter Frankie Bird quickly cemented herself as a shining light on the new music scene. But after moving to London in recent months, she is now looking to settle in her new home as she delivers her wondrous debut EP 'Grassroots', a release brimming with rich and heartfelt emotion.

Much like what her initial offerings delivered, this new four-track collection makes for a beautifully sweet and tender listen. Treating her recent resettlement to the capital as the driving inspiration behind these new tracks, 'Grassroots' is a humbled and captivating look inside her newfound life experiences. Keeping the production stripped-back to her usual acoustic-led base throughout, this new offering sees her revitalised and renewed from start to finish as she enters this new phase within her glittering career so far.

With this wonderfully light an shimmering approach to her songwriting as well, 'Grassroots' feels like the beginning of something very special from the young artist. Always finding new and inventive ideas in which to explore, she is definitely a name we need to keep an ear out for in the near future as well.
