Prague-based singer-songwriter George Collins embraces a decidedly sunnier outlook on his new single ‘Happiness Looks Good on You’.
Taken from his album 'New Ways of Getting Old', the track emerged after he realised much of his songwriting naturally leaned towards reflection and melancholy. Determined to capture something closer to his own optimistic personality, he instead wrote about seeing somebody emerge from a difficult period and rediscover their happiness.
And that positivity spills directly into the music. Drawing from vintage R&B, Southern soul and the sounds of New Orleans, the track combines Hammond organ, horns, bluesy guitar and an exuberant rhythm section. A gospel choir joins proceedings towards the finale, bringing harmonies, handclaps and an irresistible communal lift.
