Getting To Know... Casablanca Drivers

Having recently returned to deliver their highly-praised debut album 'Super Adventure Club', French indie-pop outfit Casablanca Drivers are now looking to showcase one of their release's standout offerings '205 502'.

With notable nods to the likes of Tame Impala and Pond, '205 502' is a wonderfully rich and psychedelic effort. Filled with a bright and bouncing aesthetic, catchy hooks, and some spellbinding vocals throughout, this new delight makes for an incredible introduction to their latest full-length.

So with the new album out and about, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has inspiring them over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

Classical Guitar, we fell in love with Paco de Lucia's arpeggios.

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

Post 2000's Indie Rock and 90's alternative. But for Super Adventure Club 70's groovy World Music really inspired us.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

Bands like Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, then we had a crush when we first listened to The Strokes.

What do you find is the best environment to find inspiration for your music?

Music Venues, Bars and Clubs and Pubs any places where you can find alcohol.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

"Aka kak" who is an underground african disco rap funk messiah. We really enjoy listening to Sorry's debut album "925".

How many of your songs have you written about people you wish you’d rather forget?

Only for this record, 2 songs about our ex girlfriends... big up to them.

What has been the funniest moment in your career so far?

We played the Bataclan (Paris) in 2015, Nick broke 2 strings in 5minutes.. the game was over for him and his weird decision was to jump/fly out of the stage hoping that someone would catch him... but he only broke a pretty young girl nose... so sad. She is Still a fan today but she comes to our gig wearing a helmet. Big up to her.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

The Strokes, preferably at the Madison Square Garden. If they are not available, Motley Crue at the Wiskey A Go Go in 1983 would do.

If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?

Bar owner for sure.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Don't drink too much before the show. But you can do whatever you want the day before.
