Getting To Know... Dandy & Ramraz

After originally coming together for their vibrant collaboration 'Sunday' last year, emerging Israeli duo Dandy & Ramraz are back at it once again with their dynamic new single 'Couldn't Make A Sound'.

Channelling more of that rich and lively aesthetic they are quickly earning a reputation for, 'Couldn't Make A Sound' makes for a wonderfully bright and uplifting listen. With its energetic textures, sweeping atmosphere, and Dandy's stellar vocals at the helm, they continue their ascent as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

RAMRAZ: Guitar, which he started playing around the age of 11.

Dandy: Piano, which she began playing at age 7, with some experience playing the trumpet as well.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

RAMRAZ: Started with blues before transitioning into hip hop, which now heavily influences his production style.

Dandy: Grew up listening to Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Billie Holiday, blending rock, soul, and jazz influences that shape her musical identity.

What was the first album you remember owning?

RAMRAZ: Channel Orange by Frank Ocean.

Dandy: Led Zeppelin II.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

RAMRAZ: Self Control by Frank Ocean.

Dandy: It’s Not The Same Anymore by Rex Orange County.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

RAMRAZ: Organising his space and getting the energy right.

Dandy: Waking up with an idea that resonates throughout the day, leading her to compose on her piano by the evening.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

RAMRAZ: Nemzzz, Samrecks & The Alchemist.

Dandy: Kaicrewsade & Alfa Mist.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

RAMRAZ: KAYTRANADA.

Dandy: Kendrick Lamar.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

RAMRAZ: Making the music he wants to hear the most as a listener.

Dandy: Bringing her visions and intuitions to life, with versatility being an important aspect of her artistry.

And what is the most frustrating part?

RAMRAZ: From a producer’s perspective, having to keep music material in the vault and being dependent on vocalists.

Dandy: Not always being able to bring her vision to life and dealing with the frustration it brings.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

RAMRAZ: Trust the process, don’t force anything, and create music for the enjoyment of the journey rather than the end product.

Dandy: Be present, ignore internal noise, focus on finishing projects and ideas, and don’t let her insecurities get in the way.
