After recently returning with their much-loved offerings 'Lucky #7' and 'Wet Dog' earlier this year, Massachusetts-based Gold Star Blvd. are back on the grind once again with their swaggering new single 'Better With The Boys'.
Bringing back more of that rich and vibrant guitar-driven aesthetic they are known for, 'Better With The Boys' makes for an incredibly fun and upbeat return. With its fresh and groove-filled hooks, soaring atmosphere, and mesmerising riffs throughout, this one will have you pumping your fists from start to finish.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them lately.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
I think it’s safe to say that we all love the instruments we currently play. Luke and David both started playing guitar when they were around 14 or 15. Although it was hard to learn at first, Luke swiftly fell in love with the sound of the guitar itself, while David began to love the sound of playing and singing along at the same time. For Bryan, the first time he picked up a bass, cranked up the volume and struck a low E, the powerful rumble shook everything in the room, and he was hooked.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
We all grew up listening to similar types of music; Green Day, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, AC DC, and probably most notably, Weezer. And yes, we spent the first stretch of our time as a band essentially being a Weezer cover band. Don’t judge us.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Bryan’s first album was A Rush Of Blood To The Head by Coldplay, Luke’s first album was The Sound Of Money by Eddie Money, and David’s first album was The Legend of Chin by Switchfoot. These albums definitely had a good amount of influence on each of us as songwriters and musicians.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
One song we wish we could’ve written is Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin. It’s just so simple but so good.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
Our current repertoire of originals came from a variety of sources, some were written by one member and shared with the rest, others were written all together, some remained just a riff for years before we came up with the rest of the song, and others were near complete in minutes. For the most part, an idea for a song is presented by one member and everyone writes the part they play, some ideas stick, others don’t.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
We’re all branching out a little bit in our own ways, listening to different genres. Whether it’s soul artists like Stevie Wonder, folk acts like Rayland Baxter, or even hip-hop artists like Mac Miller and Kendrick Lamar, we’re always looking for new music to be inspired by.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
We would love to open for The Glorious Sons on tour. Their sound is very similar to ours, and we think the audience would get really into our music.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
The ability to pick up an instrument and actually be able to have others hear the sounds and rhythms I can hear in my head.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Dealing with music venues can be really frustrating at times, especially when we know we’ll kill it, and all we need is a chance to prove it to them.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Get your music in front of people, even if you don’t think it’s perfect.
