Getting To Know... Horologica

London-based singer-songwriter Horologica returns with his latest EP 'I Want It More Than Anyone', a heartfelt collection that explores love, identity, and emotional openness through warm, melody-driven songwriting. Originally from Wisconsin, Horologica balances a unique dual life, working as a professional horologist by day while crafting introspective, soul-baring music by night. That contrast between precision and feeling runs throughout the project, giving the EP both structure and spontaneity.

At its centre is the focus track 'Feather', a bright and uplifting moment that began as a spontaneous burst of creativity at the piano before evolving into a layered, harmony-rich piece. Its light, romantic tone reflects the EP’s wider themes, capturing connection and vulnerability with an effortless sense of warmth.

So with the new EP available now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

THE CELLO! When I started music in year 5 I started with the cello. Its beautiful - and is the instrument that sounds most like a humans voice...

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

I’ve been a pop diva addict since I was a child!

What was the first album you remember owning?

The first CD I remember was Britney “Baby one more time”. I was 4. (It was actually owned by 11 year old sister) The first music I ever bought for myself was Katy Perry “Hot N Cold”. A single on iTunes for 99 cents!

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

I’ve never wished that. I can’t think of any. I’m inspired by a lot of music but I don’t need to lust for someone else’s art.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Music comes out of me in a therapeutic way. When I’m feeling emotional, I start at the piano or guitar and go from there. The music flows out of me. The same thing happens to me at the keyboard when I produce. I have to be feeling very emotional.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I’ve been listening to a lot of punk lately - Panic! At the disco, Fall Out Boy, and always my favorite artist, Lorde!

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

I’d say at the moment, maybe someone like Lola Young, sombr, Harry Styles. I think our aesthetics and music would meld.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

The purpose it gives me in life is stronger than anything. I will always do this and it will always give me sometime to strive for.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Trying to find engaging followers is difficult. But, I’m working on that! Hence this interview! How am I doing? XD

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

To keep putting the music out! It can take years of creating to gain a listerner base. Don’t give up.
