Drawing on her Creole and Black heritage, Kitty blends glossy production, fearless storytelling, and emotional grit to create a sound that channels the larger-than-life icons of the early 2000s, but with a Gen Z twist that’s entirely her own. 'Seduction' is playful yet commanding, sultry yet self-assured, pulling listeners into a world where sensuality doubles as a declaration of power.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with Kitty Kristof to talk about her inspirations and what has most influences the origins of her sound to date.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
I honestly think the first instrument I fell in love with was the trumpet. The sound reminds me of anthems, stadiums, something royal. I love a good trumpet and different horns in a song — it just feels right.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I loved it all. I grew up with older parents and my grandmother, so I was always surrounded by old-school music. That’s always been the key to my heart. But on the flip side, I was a full-on Bieber fan, One Direction, Jonas Brothers, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Beyoncé... you name it. And yeah, you might also catch me listening to Arctic Monkeys too.
What was the first album you remember owning?
If we’re talking physical albums — which is rare in my generation — my first ones were Renaissance, An Evening with Silk Sonic, and Aaliyah. I got all three as a gift on the same day, and I still cherish them.
What is one song you wish you had written yourself?
That’s a very hard question — there are thousands. But one that sticks out is “Need Your Lovin’” by Teena Marie. It’s so hip, so sexy. It feels like a tease. I love everything about it.
Do you have any habits or rituals when writing new music?
Sometimes I can just sit and write — but honestly, it usually hits me out of nowhere. While I’m cleaning, driving, or even in class, a line will pop into my head, and the next thing I know, I’ve written a whole song. It’s random, but it’s real.
Who are your favorite artists you're listening to right now?
Definitely Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, Britney Spears, Kim Petras, and The Weeknd.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
I’d love to open for Lizzo. I love her music, her style, and the message behind her songs. It’s powerful and really speaks to who she is as a person.
What’s the most rewarding part of being a musician?
The human connection during live performances. Performing is my sanctuary — it's when the world shuts off and all we’re focused on is the music. It’s beautiful seeing so many people connect over one thing. That kind of energy is unmatched.

And what is the most frustrating part?
Definitely having to navigate the system as an independent artist. It’s a saturated space, especially in our generation, and it can feel overwhelming. But at the end of the day, you have to come back to your purpose — your why. That’s what keeps you grounded.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a musician?
“Always stay gracious. Best revenge is your paper.” That line speaks volumes. Grace, patience, and focusing on your success — that’s the real power move. And that my darlings, comes from the one and only, Beyonce.
