Getting To Know... Klemen

For years, Slovenian artist Klemen has made a name for himself by becoming other people. With razor-sharp impersonations of political figures and Eurovision icons, his viral comedy music videos have amassed hundreds of millions of views, turning him into one of Europe’s most recognisable and mischievous satirists. But behind the humour lies something deeper, and with his debut album 'Golden Hour,' Klemen is finally ready to show it.

Fresh off a widely praised performance at Eurovision 2025, Klemen returns to 'Golden Hour' with renewed focus, releasing the album physically for the first time and preparing for a headline show at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club on the 17th February. Across 11 tracks, he strips away the characters and reveals the artist underneath: tender, reflective, and emotionally disarming.

So with the new LP out now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I remember jumping up and down on our kitchen table with a plastic guitar, and later jamming on a synth my grandma bought me. And singing all the time. That was probably the real beginning.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

My sister was a very loud listener, so I started with Caught in the Act and the Backstreet Boys. Maybe I’m not too proud of that… but it definitely left a mark. At least that’s how I learned harmonies.

What was the first album you remember owning?

The first one I was actually proud of owning was By the Way by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Imagine. Or My Way. Or Formidable by Stromae. Or Gangnam Style.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I developed a habit of writing for at least 20 minutes every day. That simple routine eventually led to a full album.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

After my Eurovision year, it feels like I’m not really listening to anything. I still need a bit of clear space in my head. But I do love Harry Styles, and I’m excited about his new album.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Definitely Coldplay.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Being able to express yourself creatively and touch other people through your music.

And what is the most frustrating part?

All the social media PR stuff you have to do nowadays.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

I’ve learned that expectations kill creativity. But when you follow curiosity, that’s when the magic really happens.
