After a three-year absence shaped by a near-fatal lung infection, the London-born, Normandy-based songwriter Lewca reemerges with 'Like Liam Gallagher', a fuzz-drenched, tongue-in-cheek anthem that feels less like a comeback and more like a defiant resurrection. Equal parts chaos and clarity, the track captures Lewca at his most unfiltered, balancing swagger and self-awareness with the kind of irreverent honesty that has long defined his work.
Blending punk grit, rap-rooted storytelling and left-field pop instincts, Lewca has always existed slightly outside the lines. But this new chapter carries a different weight. His forthcoming album 'Innit?' arrives shaped by survival, offering a record that confronts mortality, ageing and personal demons without ever losing its sense of humour.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The first instrument I played was the French horn, but the first instrument I really fell in love with was the kazoo. I just loved how silly it sounds.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
More or less the same things I listen to now, I guess. My mother listened to a lot of classic rock, folk, jazz, and blues, and my dad was into classical music, so I grew up with a quite diverse musical environment. As an adolescent, I discovered Prodigy, Nirvana, Cypress Hill, and Asian Dub Foundation the same summer… mind blown.
What was the first album you remember owning?
I got “To the Extreme” by Vanilla Ice on vinyl as a present for my 10th birthday. The first album I bought was “Doggystyle” by Snoop Dogg. I had no idea who he was; I just really liked the cover.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
There are so many, I can’t really answer that. I would love to write a massive anthem like “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns N’ Roses one day though…
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I generally start a new song with a chorus or a sentence, so I chant a lot in my car when I commute. My kids disapprove.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
During lockdown, I was listening to hundreds of great new artists, but to be honest, recently I haven’t been discovering many new acts. A lot of credence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, some Motown stuff, Dropkick Murphys, Mob Deep (I saw Havoc live recently; he was amazing), MOP, RA the Rugged Man… and a bunch of other stuff.
That said, I have been listening quite a lot to Prof, that I didn’t know until recently. He’s pretty crazy.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Wow, that is a really difficult question… I’d say probably Iggy Pop & The Stooges or The Clash circa 1979, just to be a part of that “anything is possible” feeling.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Definitely the rush of being on stage, there’s really nothing quite like it.
And what is the most frustrating part?
The constant distractions from the music, social media, promotion, paperwork, and whatnot, it’s a drag, to be honest.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
In one of the bands I was in years ago, the drummer told me to own my mistakes on stage as if they were intentional. If you run with it, no one will ever know!
