Having already established themselves with a dazzling array of releases in recent years, Swedish duo Maklo & Peter are back to their best once again with their vibrant new outing 'Here With You'.
Capturing more of that bright and infectious indie-pop aesthetic they are known for, 'Here With You' makes for an incredibly fun and enjoyable listen. With its bold and lofty textures, lively atmosphere, and stellar vocals layered throughout, they return to us with one of their more impactful efforts to date here.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
We both started out playing guitar, but what we truly fell in love with were the sounds and melodies — the instrument itself has always been secondary.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
Both of us have always had a wide taste in music, everything from punk rock to country to basic pop. A good song is a good song, and we still live by that!
What was the first album you remember owning?
I remember buying Iron Maiden’s Number of the Beast pretty much just because of the cool album cover. I never really liked Iron Maiden or that kind of rock music — but clearly, the creativity surrounding music has always been important.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
We wish we had written Sam Fender’s People Watching — it’s everything we aspire to be!
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
We just come up with melodies, a lyric strip, or sometimes even a weird hockey choir. Then we get together over some beers and just let it happen! When we’re done, we always head to our local rock pub and listen to karaoke.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
At the moment we listen a lot to Sam Fender, The Killers, Paramore, Sticky Fingers.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
We would like to open for something fun, we like fun! Maybe The Hives.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
The most rewarding part is the adventures that come with the places you play and the people you meet along the way — and, of course, those wonderful late nights spent just creating stuff.
And what is the most frustrating part?
The frustrating part is finishing songs — and battling your own motivation when it doesn’t feel 100% fun. Most of the time, we just let it sink deep into the computer and start something new instead.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
We’re still waiting for the best advice, I guess. But for us, it’s all about having fun and chasing cool adventures. If it’s not fun, then it’s not right!
