What were the first instruments you fell in love with?

Easily the guitar! I picked it up at 10 and have been playing ever since. My love for it has only grown with time!

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

Probably the Arctic Monkeys. I basically taught myself to sing with their songs.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

I was brought up on the classics. I was routinely listening to the Beatles, David Bowie, and Bob Dylan.

Can you remember the first song that made you want to pursue a life in music?

Of course I can! It was Scar Tissue by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Specifically the Slane Castle performance. My Dad showed me the DVD as a kid and I remember getting up early to watch it and just falling in love with the guitar work and the song as a whole.

When you wake up in the morning, what kind of music do you like to listen to?

I like listening to something with a bit of energy that gets me moving. Declan McKenna is a mainstay of my morning tunes at the moment.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

A lot of my songs feature people in my life but if we’re talking about the focus, only 2 I believe. I tend to write more about myself and how I feel; kinda self centred I know…

What have been the most memorable moments in your career so far?

My first gig as a solo musician comes to mind. I was a ball of nerves and I’d been given a 7:00pm opener slot so a bunch of my friends and fans couldn’t make it. I’d also only just figured out my solo set and how I was controlling the sound so it was a lot to think about. But once I got going, I loved every second!

Outside of music, what is your biggest passion?

Probably gaming. It’s a great way to relieve stress, can’t lie.

If you weren’t musicians, what other path do you think you might have taken?

I’ve thought about this before but I still have no idea. Music is the only thing I know really. I guess I’d probably be a music teacher but that’s still being a musician in a way. I honestly don’t know who I’d be without music.

And what advice would you give to other musicians looking to start a career in music?

Just keep going. If music is genuinely your passion, just keep pushing forward, release track after track, play show after show and enjoy every second, even if only your dad shows up to your show, it really doesn’t matter. Make music that is true to you and enjoy it!
