The Songs of Butler & Cupples make their introduction with debut single 'Bad Habits', a punchy pop-rock statement that puts songwriting firmly at the centre. Rather than presenting as a traditional band, the project operates as a creative vehicle for two seasoned industry writers, prioritising craft, collaboration, and longevity over image.
Walking the line between pop, rock, and grunge, the track carries a sense of immediacy and emotional tension while maintaining a timeless quality that feels equally at home in past decades or the present moment. With credits spanning major television, sports broadcasts, and international programming, the writers behind the project bring quiet experience and restraint to the forefront.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most over the years.
