What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I definitely tried my hand at a couple different instruments, but could never stick with anything. I've always loved to sing and always sang everywhere as a kid. However as I got older I stopped singing as much. It wasn't until my sophomore year of high school where I sang something in front of my friends for the first time and their reaction was enough to make me remember how much I love singing/how this instrument sounds.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

I listened to all kinds of different music as a child, but I'd say when I started to actually listen to the lyrics of music I resonated with, that was pretty much everything from the 2000s pop punk era. Think Paramore, Blink 182, Fall Out Boy etc etc… Definitely still has my heart now and forever.

What was the first album you remember owning?

Confessions By Usher. and i remember i played it so often that one day it just started skipping all the time.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

That 100 percent would be Sweater weather by The Neighbourhood. It’s a classic in so many different aspects. It’s a song you can put on anywhere and the majority of the room will start singing along. Not to mention, sweater weather is hands down the best weather.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Well, I write and record pretty much everything in my bedroom. I always feel like the state of my room depicts what my mindset feels like. So usually there's a bunch of stuff scattered all around my room and I always find myself cleaning it as I write. I guess it helps me believe my mind isn't as cluttered as I think it is.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Samia
Flipturn
Ax and the Hatchetmen
Briston Maroney
The Backseat Lovers
Beach Bunny

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

There’s a long list but Paramore would be a god damn blessing.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

There's so many different things I could say, but I think my number one would be whenever someone tells me about how much they needed to hear or relate to a song that I've written.I like to think that now that person can feel a little less alone knowing that someone else feels the exact same, and vice versa.

And what is the most frustrating part?

I'll say this because it's what I’ve been struggling with the most recently. When you're feeling an abundance of emotion, but don't know the words to get anything out. It kinda feels like you're blowing up a balloon that never pops.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

I was talking to a friend of mine and I was going on about how I wished I could write songs like an artist I listened to a lot of at the time. He told me you wouldn't be making your own music if you did. Only you can write the songs you're gonna write. And while that's not exactly advice, it's something stuck with me in my early years of making music.
