Following on from a run of impactful offerings these last few years, Danish rapper Wohran is back on the grind once again to deliver his woozy new single 'True Story'.
Capturing more of that warm and immersive hip-hop aesthetic he has been crafting since he first emerged, 'True Story' makes for an incredibly rich and shimmering return for him. With its warm and sweeping textures, breezy atmosphere, and his own killer flow at the helm, he continues to shine as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The first instrument I fell in love with was definitely the piano, even though I actually played some bass years before. But at that time, I just wasn’t in a place in my life where I had the space and energy to delve deeper into an instrument.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
When I was younger I was heavily into west coast rap like Snoop, Dre, 50 and Eminem. Which, weirdly enough, transitioned into more east coast as I got older. But Snoop definitely had and still has a special place in my mind, as it was the first rap I heard. And at the time it just blew my mind. And I didn’t even understand what he was saying.
What was the first album you remember owning?
My first album was Doggystyle. Even though it was my mom's, I kinda stole it for some time.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Come Back To Earth by Mac Miller. Still the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
So, I make all my beats and such myself, and I have a tendency to try and push myself to write the entire thing right after I make the beat, but I realised that it, more often than not, made me compromise the quality. So I try to leave it until the day after at least. Then I go outside, find a bench or something with a view, put on the beat and write it there. Of course sometimes you just get it right away, and I’m not trynna hinder me. But if I sense that I’m getting trash, I stop writing for that day.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
I always listen to Mac Miller and that ain’t ever gonna stop. But, besides Mac I’ve been getting into a lot of A Tribe Called Quest, Slum Village, 9th Wonder, J. Cole and Smino.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
That’s a tricky question, because I feel like the music should match each other to a certain extent, like at least in vibes. So going from that, I think someone like Isaiah Rashad would be really cool. If we’re just going off of the craziest wish, I’d say J. Cole.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
When I get told by someone that they listened to some of my music and got a positive experience out of it. Like, if I can make someone's day a little brighter or help someone deal with a difficult situation in their lives, I’ve achieved what I set out to. Admittedly, it’s currently very rare though.
And what is the most frustrating part?
I’d say the most frustrating part is that I make everything myself, including mastering which is just an uphill battle, cuz it doesn’t feel like a part of the creative process, but more a time consuming numbers game. And something that has to be done.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
I actually have two quotes: “Your music is supposed to reflect you, but it can’t if you keep disturbing the picture.” and “You can never plant both feet on the ground, if you keep running.” It’s also good advice for life I think.
