Getting To Know...Indigo Eyes

Having already impressed us with the release of his brilliant formative singles ‘Forbidden (With LissA)' and ‘Close To You (With De Rien)’ earlier this year, emerging producer Joseph Robson aka Indigo Eyes has now returned with his latest spellbinding offering 'Jaded (With Georgie O'Brien)'.

Lifted from his upcoming EP 'Close To You', which drops this Friday, 'Jaded (With Georgie O'Brien)' sees the beatmaker deliver another wonderfully uplifting electronic cut. Filled with a sweeping atmosphere, textured production, and vocalist O'Brien soaring throughout, this new delight a wonderfully calm yet uplifting return to form.

So with the new single out and the EP nearly with us, we sat him down to find out more about his background and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I began playing the guitar at the age of five but don’t think I fell in love with it till I was around 12 and started to experiment with what I could play beyond just covers of rock songs!

What has been the most prominent inspiration behind your music so far?

The UK house scene has been huge for me in terms of discovering the type of music I really connect to. Starting to go clubbing and experience the warmth of those tracks on a night out really made me want to start trying to make it for myself.

What kind of music did you love as a teenager?

I really liked more festival type electronic dance music. Really huge artists like Avicii and Martin Garrix were who I listened to mostly.

What inspires you to make music?

Probably the feeling you get before and after seeing an artist’s live show. It always leaves me so excited to make new music and try and replicate that excitement in my own music.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

There’s so much amazing new music at the minute, honestly too much to name that I absolutely love. If I had to narrow them down I’d say that my current rotation consists of the new Joe Hertz cut ‘Current Blues,’ Roosevelt, the debut Ross Quinn EP, and a lot of MJ Cole, who I only discovered recently despite him being a household name in the UK scene.

How many of your songs have you written about people in your life?

Definitely more when I was younger than I do now, but that’s not to say that I never do it. I have a track which should be releasing early next year which should definitely give a more personal insight into my life and style of songwriting.

What has been the most unusual moment in your career so far?

Hearing people I’ve looked up to say that they like the music I make. I don’t think it will ever get old, still mind blowing every time aha.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Opening for SG Lewis would be such a dream come true. The atmosphere at his shows is so incredible, everybody in the room is just absolutely buzzing and having such a good time.

If you weren’t a musician, what other path do you think you might have taken?

I honestly have no idea aha! Maybe a teacher for the long holidays!

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Don’t get caught up in what people want to hear at the moment, only what they’ll want to hear next.
