Ever since he came into our lives with his breathtaking debut 'Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam', brooding frontman Ghostpoet has always looked to push the boundaries of his personal sound. Combining an almost trip-hop influence over his own musings, the frontman has consistently been one of the best artists in the country. But given the worldwide turmoil we are all currently experiencing, Mr. Obaro Ejimiwe has found himself inspired to show where he stands on the mess that is today's global situation.

While sonically 'Dark Days & Canapés’ has very little difference with his older material, his lyrical content paints a contemporary picture of so much woe today. The track 'Immigrant Boogie' aims to highlight the determined struggle of the refugee crisis, and our willingness to be indifferent to it. While 'Freakshow' is a more personal attack on the general public's ability to be both naive and selfish in today's society.

While scathing in parts, it is all wrapped up in this bold and inventive production that keeps the wheels turning and the pace set to a nice groove. It may not be his best work to date, but it certainly gives you more to think about as it plays.
