Some collaborations announce themselves with fireworks; others whisper their way into your consciousness. 'Sylph', the joint work from Hilgrove Kenrick and Nick Norton-Smith, belongs to the latter. Rather than flaunting virtuosity, it lingers in the margins, an exploration of sound as atmosphere, memory, and slow revelation.

The piece unfurls as a dialogue between Norton-Smith’s soprano saxophone and Kenrick’s carefully woven orchestral textures, gradually dissolving into electronic haze. Sax lines arc upward, while orchestral figures fold into synth washes that ebb and return with tidal patience.
