Hinds - 'I Don't Run'

7/10

When the Spanish outfit released their debut album 'Leave Me Alone' back in 2016, Hinds presented themselves as a rough-around-the-edges, ragtag group of musicians with a very DIY-focused sound. And as they return with their eagerly-anticiapted follow-up, the band have managed to hold onto their authentic sound but add some subtle changes that allow this record to hone itself more into their chosen influences.

Taking inspiration from the 60s surf-rock sound and blending it with their own distorted and snarled direction, 'I Don't Run' aims to be the more focused release of their two records to date. Keeping almost every track along a strict path of laid-back guitar work and Pixies-esque vocal performances, this new LP sees a great level of songwriting maturity within the group and delivers something with a more succinct feel to it.

It may not have that same blistering energy as their first album, but 'I Don't Run' still works very well as a full-length release. The band have obviously focused themselves on creating a suitable follow-up release for their fans, which they look to have done with aplomb.
