Emerging alternative rock band Hitlist have released their debut single 'Girlfriends', introducing us to the group’s energetic, unpredictable sound that blends punk attitude with sharp guitar-driven hooks.
'Girlfriends' explores feelings of insecurity and self-awareness through a candid lyrical perspective. The song centres on the experience of watching confident crowds gathered around performers on stage and questioning one’s own place in that world. Musically, the band draw inspiration from a wide mix of influences including L7, Shame, Lush, and Elastica, while also incorporating elements from funk, alternative rock, and other styles. The result is a lively, high-impact sound that balances raw energy with memorable melodies.
Hitlist have already begun to build momentum on the live circuit, appearing at Live at Leeds in the City 2025, headlining a show at Sidney & Matilda in Sheffield, and performing in London through promoter Breaking Sound. The band have also gained attention from ASBO Magazine, signalling early interest in their emerging project.
