Hot Chip announce new album 'A Long Way From Kansas'

British electronic outfit Hot Chip have announced their ninth studio album 'A Long Way From Kansas', set for release on the 8th January 2027, alongside the unveiling of its lead single ‘Random Violence’.

The new track serves as a tribute to the late Keith McIvor, better known as JD Twitch of influential Glasgow DJ duo Optimo, who passed away in September 2025 following a brain tumour diagnosis.

A celebrated DJ, promoter and passionate advocate for socialist values, McIvor played an important role in shaping the band's musical journey and their understanding of music's ability to bring people together.

Speaking about the single, Joe Goddard revealed that its lyrics were inspired by memories of McIvor and their experiences at Glasgow's Sub Club, where they first met two decades ago.

Accompanying the release is an official music video directed by Jack Cole, featuring all-female progressive morris dancing group Boss Morris in a celebration of community, remembrance and resistance.
