Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor announces companion album 'Listen With(out) Piano’

Last year, Hot Chip frontman Alexis Taylor released his new album 'Piano', a collection of reworked songs from earlier in his career, performed solely with his voice and piano. Now the producer has announced a new companion piece to that release.

The idea behind his new record ‘Listen With(out) Piano’ is that the songs can be played either on their own or alongside the original versions on 'Piano'. This allegedly allows the songs to take on a whole new form, while still being perfectly listenable individually.

‘Listen With(out) Piano’ is due out on the 3rd March via Moshi Moshi, and to get an idea of what he is trying to explain, there is video that tackles the complex idea, which you can watch below.
